The company uses five of its most iconic looks to paint its smallest crossover.
Porsche is one of the most respected automotive brands in motorsport, with some stunning racing liveries being part of its history. The company covered five Macans with these classic paintjobs and photographed them in Singapore to celebrate its heritage.
Martini Racing’s livery, which combines a white body with light, dark, and red stripes, is one of the most well-known paint jobs in motorsports. However, it looks best on Porsches. Martini & Rossi has been sponsoring Porsche race cars since 1968. This Macan looks fantastic with its black trim and wheels.
The Martini Racing look is simple, but Porsche’s pink pig livery for a Macan is more outrageous. The body’s words refer to the different pieces of a pig that are removed by butchers, while the lines with dotted lines indicate where the cuts will occur. This whimsical design is a one-off 917/20 creation from the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans. This experimental car combined elements from both the long- and short-tail 917 variants. Although it did not finish the race, qualifying saw the pink pig post the fastest top speed.
Porsche’s corporate headquarters is located in Stuttgart’s Zuffenhausen neighborhood, Germany. However, the Porsche family and its huge holding company are rooted in Salzburg, Austria. The Porsche Salzburg racing team won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970 with a Porsche 917 using the red-and-white color scheme.
In its legendary status among Porsche enthusiasts, the Gulf Racing livery is comparable to the Martini color scheme. The combination of orange and light blue is attractive and striking without being too flashy. John Wyer convinced Gulf Oil that he would sponsor his racing team. The color scheme was used on many cars, including the Ford GT40. Wyer’s team later raced Porsches, and Wyer brought the German company’s racers the amazing paint job. It was a perfect match.
Porsche’s 1982 racing successes were sponsored by Rothmans tobacco, which brought a classy look to their race cars. The body’s dark blue lower area is broken up by a red stripe. It has a white upper section. The racing number is not visible on the side. This could lead to the mistaken belief that this is a custom Macan with a red stripe, and not a crossover that pays homage to a popular motorsport color scheme.
