Porsche’s headquarters is said to be working on a sub-Macan crossover, so we decided to predict the future.
Porsche is no longer about the 911. The Macan is currently the best-selling model in the company’s lineup. 2015 was the model’s first year of full availability, during which it sold more than 80,000 units all over the globe. The silver medal was awarded to the Cayenne, who sold 73,119 units last year. The crossovers saw double-digit growth in 2015, which enabled Porsche to sell more than 200k cars per year for the first ever time in its history. Worldwide, 225,121 vehicles were delivered, with the Macan, Cayenne and Cayenne being the most coveted models in Porsche’s range.
It makes sense that Porsche is looking at the possibility of releasing a smaller crossover that costs less than the base Macan model, which would cost $47,500. Auto Bild says the model will be called “Majun,” and Automobile Magazine reports that the model will share a lot with the Audi Q4 or an electric Volkswagen crossover. This report was delayed due to the Dieselgate up to 2021.
Porsche has many other priorities right now, so even if this is going to happen, a sub Macan crossover will not be coming out. It is currently working on the production version of its Mission E concept. A wagon version of the Panamera will also be produced in 2017. Meanwhile, a coupe is also reportedly on the horizon.
Porsche plans to update the GT3 and introduce the GT2 range-topping model. Porsche is also working on the next-generation, which will be available for purchase by the end 2018 or early 2019.
