It’s clear that Porsche is home to some of the most passionate car enthusiasts in the world. The 911 is credited with that legacy. These owners love their cars and love driving them, whether it’s a new 911 TurboS or an older air-cooled model. Porsche Classic, which was founded in 2009, offered a single-din infotainment program to classic 911 owners.
Porsche Classic has updated the design and added a double-din unit to its super-sized expansion. The Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) is a new offering that adds more tech options to older models. It has a single-din space at the dash or straight up.
Moderntechnology to “young classics”, starting with the 996 generation, which has double-din systems. No matter the system’s size, they offer Apple CarPlay and DAB + as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
PCCM Plus is the larger, double-din unit. The PCCM Plus is a plug-and play system that can be used with existing controls and also offers touchscreen functionality via a 7-inch display. This upgraded technology for PCCM Plus means that young classics drivers will be able to take advantage of Porsche’s new navigation systems with Porsche points–of-interest and route guidance. This unit is not only for the 911, but Porsche claims it will also work with the first-generation Boxster.
Although the single-din upgrade for older Porsches may not be as powerful, it still has impressive capabilities for its size. The new PCCM not only offers navigation functions but also DAB + and Apple CarPlay capabilities. It also has a touch-sensitive display of 3.5 inches. The primary functions can be controlled by integrated buttons and rotary knobs. The overall design is as close as possible to the classic Porsche stereo system.
Upgraded PCCM single-din units are now available for EUR1,439.89 ($1,551). The double-din PCCM Plus model is available for EUR1,606.51 ($1,731). Both models are available in Porsche Classic shops or at Porsche Centers.
