This new location was opened by the automaker in Guangzhou in China. It covers 1,700 square feet and is located in a shopping center.
The new studio is the 100 th Porsche sales location in China. This country seems to be a hotbed of more than just entry-level SUVs. Porsche claims that China is not only a great market but the company’s largest single market.
Detlev von Platen, a Porsche executive board member who oversees the company’s marketing and sales strategy, stated that “our four-door sports cars have been very popular in Asia.” Chinese buyers seem to have shown a special interest in the 718 cars. Cayman, Boxster sales reached 5,100 units in just the first three quarters 2017.
Although the new studio will have a large area for cars to be displayed, the automaker also wants to interact with people in their daily lives. This is why the location at the shopping center. Porsche plans to use the center not only to sell cars but also to educate the public about Porsche and the perks that come with Porsche ownership.
Given the rapid growth of China’s car market, it is logical to offer people a platform to get information about a brand rather than being bombarded with sales pitches. Porsche plans to open a second center in Shanghai in 2018, as well.
