The Panamera is close to reaching its official top speed.
Grand touring cars are supposed to be capable of cruising down the highway at high speeds, while keeping their occupants comfortable. This AutoTopNL video shows that the Porsche Panamera GTS can meet these requirements.
The Panamera GTS driver starts at a stop on the side of the road. He then uses the launch control for a quick start. The Porsche continues to gain speed from there. It is amazing how fast the Porsche accelerates. The Porsche only seems to slow down when it shifts to sixth gear.
The speedometer shows that the Panamera GTS can travel 288 km/h (179 miles/h). This is close to Porsche’s official speed record of 182 mph (292 km/h).
The Panamera GTS is powered by a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 that produces 460 horsepower (343 Kilowatts). It can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds. The standard model comes with an adaptive air suspension that adjusts to a lower ride height.
The Panamera Sport Turismo wagon is also available in a GTS version. It is mechanically identical to the other body styles. The top speed is 180 mph (289 km/h) due to the aerodynamics.
Panamera GTS is currently available for $129,300 plus a $1350 destination fee. The GTS grade is located between the Turbo and the 4S in the model lineup.
Porsche is currently working to refresh the styling of the Panamera. According to spy shots, we shouldn’t expect any radical styling changes. New headlights, and taillights are the most noticeable changes. Inside, there is a new steering wheel. At this time, powertrain changes remain a mystery. The updated model will be available very soon.
