Oder, could this be a new version in development?
Motor1.com reader noted that the prototype’s exhaust pipes are not new or different in their shape. This layout is also found on the Panamera 4 entry-level model. Andreas Ohgren Persson caught our error!
Porsche presented the refreshed Panamera on August 26, 2018. It featured the Turbo S trim, which has 620 horsepower (462 Kilowatts) as well as 604 pound-feet (820 Newton meters) of torque. The Panamera range-topper was unveiled by the Stuttgart-based company in October 2020. The Turbo S E-Hybrid sedan is the most powerful model for the 2021 model-year, with 689 horsepower (513 kW).
It is quite amazing to see Porsche testing a Panamera prototype. This was captured by our photographers on German public roads. It seems that Porsche could be planning another refresh less than a year since the Panamera’s debut. It could also be preparing a new model to join the Panamera range.
This car is very similar to the 2021 Panamera. We noticed a few minor changes at the front, such as the new LED daytime running light arrangement and the redesign of the lower section. This prototype does not appear to have the round fog lamps that were introduced last year with the Panamera’s facelift.
There are even less things to talk about at the back. Nearly everything looks the same as in the Panamera facelift photos. Only exception is the exhaust system. While the 2021 Panamera had a quad exhaust arrangement this test car has one oval pipe at each corner. Although this could suggest a lesser Panamera model, it is only an assumption.
We know that the Panamera will be around, no matter what the outcome. Oliver Blume, Porsche’s chief executive, recently stated that the combustion-powered model could be revived and sold with the all-electric Taycan. Perhaps Porsche is already doing early R&D on the next-generation model.
