36 photos show exterior changes that are more dramatic than those seen on the previous prototypes.
Over the past few months, we have caught some Porsche Panamera prototypes hidden behind minor modifications on camera. It was all quite strange to our spy sources, as it is a relatively new Panamera that debuted in 2021 with a minor facelift. Although it is not uncommon to see a Panamera prototype with much more changes in such a short time, we are still puzzled by the sightings.
The front fascia now looks slightly different than before. This is not a major change. There are new headlights, and fenders at the front. Further back, we can see camouflage covering the C-pillar. This is something that was not there before. New fuel door designs have changed the quarter panels. Black tape is used to cover the rear clip. This conceals the taillight design as well as details on rear fascia. These prototypes also make the hatchback look more flush with the body. Although we could consider a major facelift, the exterior changes to the model make it more likely that a new-generation model. This makes sense because Porsche testing on public roads can take a while. The previous sightings could have been test mules, or models already wearing the new fascia. This would indicate larger changes beneath the skin. However, at this stage of our research, we don’t have any additional information beyond what we see in these images.
The Porsche Panamera of the current generation was introduced in 2017 as a 2017 model. For the model year 2021, the facelift came in 2020. The next Panamera would not debut until 2024 if Porsche follows a four-year cycle of updates. A reveal could be two years away, unless this is a completely new Panamera trim. It’s not easy to track automakers as they develop vehicles. We will continue to investigate to find out what the future holds for Panamera.
