Porsche Panamera Turbo Vs Turbo S E-Hybrid In Acceleration Duel

What about $30,000 more performance?

It’s the small things that really matter when you spend six figures on a car. The Porsche Panamera Turbo is more expensive than the Turbo S E-Hybrid, but the differences in real-world performance are small.

Another video from AutoTopNL shows how close they are during acceleration. The Turbo and the Turbo E-Hybrid are only a few miles apart at 124 mph (200 km/h). Even during acceleration, the Turbo S is slightly faster than the Turbo S for a few seconds.

The Turbo S starts to show a consist lead at 155 mph (250 km/h). Even then, it is less than 6 mph (10 km/h). When the Turbo S reaches 173mph (280 km/h), the Turbo S maintains its lead at (183 mph, 296 kph). This is also the largest advantage the Turbo S has over the Turbo.

It’s not an important difference in performance. The Panamera Turbo is powered by a biturbocharged 4.0 liter V8 that produces 550 horsepower and 567 pound feet (770 Newton-meters). The Turbo S, on the other hand, produces 680 horsepower and 626 lbft (850Nm) of torque. The electric motor produces 136 horsepower and 295 lb/ft (300 Nm) more torque. This is on top of the turbo’s biturbocharged, 4.0-liter V8.

Although it is difficult to distinguish the Turbo S nameplate and performance, the Panamera Turbo S gets additional efficiency from its electric powertrain. The car can go up to 30 miles (49 km) on electric power alone, which is 87 mpg (140 Kph).

The $30,000 price difference is more than performance. It’s Porsche’s vision of an electrified future, and some customers will be eager to ride that wave.
