Cuvee 356 is a tribute to the first examples of the brand’s first models. Although Porsche is closely linked to the Zuffenhausen district in Stuttgart, today’s 356s first 47 units have their home at Gmund, Austria. Cuvee 356, a Cuvee, is sourced from Weingut Tement, Ehrenhausen, Austria. The country’s south Styrian wine area is home to the terroir, which is reportedly very similar to the Piedmont and Tuscany regions of Italy.
Weingut Tement made Cuvee 356 from blending multiple wines. It was created by Weingut Tement using pinot blanc and chardonnay grapes, as well as sauvignon blanc and pinot gris grapes. Porsche does not provide any information about the wine’s taste. You can find out by taking a sip.
It can be difficult to get a bottle Cuvee 356. You can get bottles at the Porsche Museum or order one with a meal at Christophorus in Stuttgart. German-speaking customers can order the 18-bottle cases directly from Porsche. However, shipping is extra at 366 euros ($425 in current exchange rates).
Porsche doesn’t just use its 70th anniversary to make sales. Porsche also built a replica of the 1948 Model 356 “No. 1 Show Car. The original was lost to the time but the archived images and drawings allowed the team to construct a new one with some minor design tweaks. After eight months of hard work, the final product was a beautiful roadster with a baby-blue body and deep red leather interior. It will be displayed at various events throughout the year including the Goodwood Festival of Speed, July 12-15, Luxury & Supercar Weekend, Vancouver, Canada, September 8-9, and Laguna Seca Porsche Rennsport Reunion, California, September 27-30.
