Currently, manufacturing in Zuffenhausen and Leipzig are up.
Russia’s invasion in Ukraine continues into the second week. This is causing further problems for some automakers. Porsche has halted production temporarily at certain locations and could eventually affect all models.
We last week reported on automotive suppliers based Ukraine who create wiring harnesses to some brands, such as Volkswagen Group. However, production disruptions are already occurring. A tweet from Caleb J Schroeter showed a timeline of Porsche production shut downs for each model during March.
The Twitter post states that the shutdown started on March 2nd with the Macan, Panamera and Taycan . It was followed by the Taycan in March 3. According to the information, Porsche Cayenne production ends on March 7. 718 production ceases on March 14 with the data- General 911 production stops on March 17. The Twitter post does not mention how long the shutdowns are expected to last. It only states that all lines will be partially suspended.
A Porsche spokesperson confirmed to Motor1.com that production at Leipzig’s factory had ceased on March 2. There are two models of the Panamera and Macan, which were built there. The shutdown will continue until the end this week (March 11). The Zuffenhausen manufacturing plant is not currently affected, but the spokesperson stated that “further actions will be taken in an orderly manner.” We will continue to monitor the situation and operate temporarily in the days and weeks ahead.
Nearly all major automakers are either directly affected by the conflict in Ukraine or offer some assistance. Volkswagen Group and Stellantis each donated 1 million euros to Ukraine relief. They were joined by Nissan today. Ford donated $100,000 and General Motors donated $250,000. All these brands, along with Honda, Toyota and Volvo, have either stopped exports to Russia or shut down operations in the area.
