Porsche Taycan, 917 Living Legend Join Gran Turismo Sport

Two new hot options for virtual racers.

The $150,000 Porsche Taycan EV is not for those on a tight budget. It won’t cost you a second mortgage to drive one, at least digitally. Porsche announced this week the Taycan Turbo S in Gran Turismo Sport. As part of the October 2019 free content update, Racers will have the opportunity to drive the 751-horsepower (560 kilowatts) sedan.

The development of the Taycan for Gran Turismo Sport took Porsche and Polyphony Digital nearly nine months. The long-standing cooperation between the two companies allowed the virtual Taycan to faithfully recreate Porsche’s Electric Sport Sound. It also features an extremely detailed cabin and closely matches the Taycan’s performance on the track to the circuits in-game.

Kjell Gruner (VP Marketing, Porsche) says that motorsport is a part of our DNA. “Racing games offer great opportunities for you to drive a Porsche on the track,” he said. “Gran Turismo, the multi-award-winning franchise that offers Porsche racing games to its fans is the ideal partner. The highest priority is also given to esports engagement.

Gran Turismo Sport will also be getting the Taycan. Porsche will also make the 917 Living Legend concept accessible to gamers in celebration of the 50th anniversary. Gran Turismo Sport will not get the full-size version this supercar, although it debuted in March.

Late in 2020, a third Porsche concept will join the Taycan 917 Living Legend and 917 Living Legend. Following in the footsteps of the Vision GT cars, the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo will be the first ever Porsche concept.
