Porsche will increase its electrified lineup in the coming years.

The Porsche Taycan wagon version, the first electric vehicle from the German automaker, is not a secret. The Taycan Cross Turismo, which Porsche announced in March, was set to debut in 2020 and go on sale for 2021. A few months after Porsche’s confirmation, spy photos were taken of an all-black Taycan Cross Turismo test horse. Porsche has revealed the regular Taycan to great fanfare since then and is now ready to expand its electrified offerings.

Other than the design, Porsche is not able to distinguish the regular Taycan sedan and the Taycan Cross Turismo. The Cross Turismo’s extended roof gives the Taycan a wagon-like appearance and increases passenger and cargo space. The Cross Turismo has a unique rear hatch and rear-end design. Although the mule has fake exhaust tips, they are not fooling anyone.

Although performance is still unknown, it seems likely that the Cross Turismo will offer the same power outputs as the regular Taycan, Taycan 4S and Taycan 4S respectively. This would give the Taycan Cross Turismo a range of 530 (395) to 761 (571) horsepower (kilowatts). All three models should come standard with all-wheel drive.

Porsche may introduce “base” models with lower power that only power the rear wheels. Although the Taycan Cross Turismo and Taycan Taycan may share power units however, the wagon might be less capable due to its slightly different design and weight. Porsche could make up for these minor differences.

The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo will likely debut in the first half of next year. It could also make an appearance at the Geneva Motor Show, where Porsche previously unveiled the Mission E Cross Turismo for 2018. Porsche’s electrified assault on the market isn’t slowing down. The next Porsche to be electrified is the Macan, the company’s compact SUV. By 2025, the company will offer electric drive systems in 50 percent of its vehicles. This is only the beginning.
