Porsche’s early years in motorsports go back to the 1950s, when it had only small race cars. Porsche’s motorsport prowess grew over the years, with many successful wins in many branches but mainly in endurance and long-distance races. We’ll refresh your memories. The most famous Porsche win was the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans victory by the 917 Kurzheck. The iconic number 23 was worn on the Porsche’s red with white stripes livery. Porsche’s 917/20 was the fastest car in the pre-race qualifying session at Le Mans 1971. It wasn’t just that, though. The pink racing livery was also a reason for its fame.
