All-electric super sedans are fighting for supremacy.
As the auto industry is a fierce competitor, the race to be the best EV driver will never end. Although the Tesla Model S was the dominant model for many years, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S has brought new life to the table, providing a powerful performance alternative. Both offer similar specs and the Shmee150 video shows them competing in drag races.
Porsche Taycan Turbo S produces 760 horsepower (655 Kilowatts) as well as 774 pound-feet (1.050 Newton-meters). This is less than the Tesla Model S Performance’s 785 horsepower (585 kW) but just short of 738 lbft (1,050 Newton-meters). The company’s Cheetah Standance is also included. The Tesla is lighter than the Porsche, weighing in at 5,059 lbs (2.295 kg).

The only difference was the battery level. The Tesla raced with 70% of its charger, while the Porsche had 36%. This makes a big difference. Shmee noted that the Taycan felt slower during the race, which is evident in the results. The Porsche just beat the Tesla in the first race of the four. The Tesla came out on top in the next races. A Tesla Model X, which has the same powertrain and speed as the Model S, was also part of the race. However it finished behind the paired in the two previous races before retiring.
When both batteries are fully charged, it would be fascinating to see the Porsche or Tesla again compete. Shmee points out that electric vehicles have their own unique nuances. He’s racing his Taycan, which he says he hasn’t had for a while. It’s strange that the output of the Taycan is decreasing as the battery drains, but it could still keep pace with the Tesla.
