Pricing for 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS-450 Starts at $75,200

This is a $5,000 increase over the previous year but offers significantly more tech.

In April, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class unveiled its third-generation design. It features a fresh design that includes tons of tech and new powertrain options, such as a turbocharged six-cylinder and a powerful twin-turbo V8. Mercedes did not mention the price of its range-topping SUV at the big reveal, but this has been partially rectified today with a dollar amount for the GLS 450 entry-level model. It’s not cheap, starting at $75,200. That doesn’t include $995 destination fees.

Update:

This is just $5,000 more than the GLS 450. The new people-mover comes with more standard-issue kit, but not least a digital cockpit with two 12.3-inch displays for the instruments and one for the infotainment system. The new GLS also benefits from Merc’s MBUX system and passengers have an upgraded Burmester surround-sound stereo. You can have the interior configured in standard trim, six-seater with captain’s chairs for more comfort.

There’s also a new engine under the hood. The 3.0-liter inline six produces 362 horsepower (269 kilowatts), and 369 poundfeet (599 Newton-meters) torque. MercedesBenz fans will be pleased to know that the engine is identical on both counts to the previous-generation twin turbo V6. The new arrangement includes the automaker’s EQ Boost mild-hybrid tech, which aids in efficiency and power delivery. Mercedes claims that the new GLS 450 can hit 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds using the same nine-speed automatic that turns all four wheels of the predecessor model. This is roughly a half second faster than the predecessor.

Mercedes is keeping the price of the V8-powered GLS580 under wraps, but it could easily break the six-figure mark if the new model experiences a similar $5,000 increase. The official pricing for the V8 edition is expected to be announced later. Mercedes claims that the GLS 450 will be available in the United States by the end 2019 as well.
