25 of these vehicles will be constructed using a Subaru Impreza chassis from the original Subaru Impreza.
In the worlds of Subaru and stage rally, few cars generate excitement among enthusiasts as the Impreza 22B from the late 1990s. Just 424 were built, but Prodrive rekindled a passion for the rare road-going rally car with its P25 announcement in May. Now we have images and more information to share on this 22B reboot, including a not-insignificant price tag of £460,000 in the UK.
Every P25 begins with a two-door Subaru Impreza chassis. Prodrive creates the mother of all 22B Restomods from this chassis, starting with a heavy infusion of carbon. Every exterior panel, even the WRC rear wings, is made of carbon composite. The door cards are made of more carbon, while optional lightweight seats reduce the weight. Prodrive does not provide a precise figure but the P25 weighs in at less than 1,200 kg (2,646 lb) due to its carbon diet.
The P25 gets a completely modern Subaru powertrain. It starts with a 2.5-liter boxer four pot. Prodrive adds a turbocharger to boost the engine’s power output by over 400 horsepower (298kilowatts). It is connected to a 6-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters and it drives all 4 wheels. Prodrive adds a WRC-style launch controller system to the P25, which can reach 100 km/h (62mph) in just 3.5 seconds.

The P25 maintains the 22B’s 1,770mm (69.7 inch) widebody stance, but you will find an upgraded McPherson suspension with adjustable dampers. The springs and sway bars can be used to carve corners on the tarmac. Bigger brakes will keep you in control. Six-piston calipers in the front grab 15 inch rotors mounted on 19-inch Prodrive wheels.
Although we are only shown three images of the exterior, Prodrive describes its interior as having an authentic late-90s Impreza look, although it is infused with carbon, leather, Alcantara and carbon. The dash has a wide-width, high definition display with a data logger. There are also various driving modes for street and track use. Prodrive offers the P25 with a four-seat configuration. However, the company will remove the back seats to make way for a partial roll cage for those who are interested in such activities.
We mentioned buyers. Only 25 units will be available for purchase. The price is high. The price starts at PS460,000 and doesn’t include VAT (value-added tax), which currently stands at 20 percent in the UK. This is more than $560,000. However, it’s not clear if Prodrive will sell any of the P25s to American buyers. It will be available to all at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where the first prototype car will be unveiled. The first customer deliveries are expected late in the year.
