Vigil Abloh, a well-known fashion designer, designed the concept before his death.
Maybach unveiled a spectacular concept car in December last year. Although it was unlike any other brand’s concept car, it was not a preview of a future production model. The vehicle was named Project Maybach and a new video on the Mr. Benz YouTube channel shows it in action.
Before Abloh’s sudden death, famed fashion designer Vigil Abloh worked with Daimler design chief Gorden Wagener on the Maybach. The stunning car is stunning and the video gives a detailed tour of the interior and exterior.
It is huge, which makes it difficult to see in the photos. It looks enormous in the video and there is a lot of echo inside the cabin. The concept is an electric vehicle, and Wagener and Abloh had total creative freedom. It’s not designed to be driven though it is possible.
The striking two-tone exterior looks stunning. The replicated design motif on both the front and back fascias sets off bold styling choices. The coupe’s offroad look is enhanced by the curvy glass roof and brown roof cage. It also features large tires with lots of tread, strong-looking side rails and bolt-on flares for fender flares. They are attached with Maybach-branded fasteners.
The leather-bound interior is also shown in the video, along with other styling elements such as the dashboard controls and infotainment screen. Even the Maybach-branded ax is shown in the video. It looks great!
It’s unfortunate that Project Maybach won’t be produced, but Mercedes still has an Abloh creation. This two-tone Mercedes-Maybach is the only one that will be available in America. Only 39 of them are expected to make it. Although it has the same color combination as its predecessor, the S680 is equipped with gold rims and lacks the concept’s off-road capabilities. Brown leather is used in the interior.
