It is a 2002 model with 49,000mi and a wetbar.
Is it not time to appreciate the PT Cruiser again? These retro runabouts used to be a hot commodity once upon a time. Although it may be hard to believe, retro runabouts were a hot commodity back in 2000. Buyers were willing to wait for months and pay more than the sticker price just so they could get one. It was, you might argue, the Ford Bronco that was most popular at the time. Actually, no. You shouldn’t say that.
This is what we will say: The PT Cruiser was very popular back then, and it wasn’t unusual to see custom Cruisers around. The very yellow 2002 model is up for sale on Facebook. We don’t know if this was an early build but it has features such as a built in DVD player so it is safe to assume that it is not a recent project. It has covered 49,200 miles and is in excellent condition. It has a 188-inch wheelbase and the largest Ram 2500 has an even longer 169-inch. This PT is certainly livin’ big.
The post cannot be embedded here as it is in a Facebook Group. However, you can catch all details at the Wilmington NC Yard Sales page. These photos include several additional shots of the car, as well as the party area featuring the DVD player. A pair of benches surround the custom wet bar, which has custom lighting, sweet sound systems, and a mirror at the ceiling. This car is everything you would want in a VIP vehicle. The cockpit is similar to a standard PT Cruiser except that it has a number of controls for operating the powered partition and moonroof.
It is not clear how the conversion of the limousine was accomplished. The powertrain is also not mentioned. It would be a 2.4-liter four cylinder with 150 horsepower (112 kilowatts). The pictures show an automatic transmission gear selector. We assume that this Cruiser has a front-wheel-drive powertrain. This could be a GT Turbo with 215 horsepower (160 kW), however, it’s a lot of limo to get such a small engine. You know what? That would work well for weddings and proms.
This brings us to $19,700, which is the asking price for the 20-year-old PT. The Cruiser has been a hit and miss. It was an instant sensation in the early 2000s, but it became a household name by 2010. Maybe the Cruiser is finally becoming cool again. Is it possible to have a $20,000 PT limo that has low miles?
This is a great question for 2002 graduates as they get ready to celebrate their 20-year reunion.
