A needle with a Testarossa shape in a haystack.
YouTube personality and car-finder Scott Chivers (a.k.a Ratarossa) has discovered another classic Ferrari. Chivers, who isn’t afraid of getting his hands dirty in order to find rare Ferraris and restore them to their former glory for the uninitiated. His Ratarossa name is not only a result of finding them but also a Testarossa rod that he made from a rolling chassis.
Although he has built one before, Chivers wanted to build a complete Testarossa. Abandoned Cars Puerto Rico helped him find a car. Amazingly, the Testarossa owner was willing to sell the car.
It was believed that the Ferrari had been abandoned on the island for 17 year. The car was not completely wrecked, but it did look a little rough around the edges. Although the car was in dire need of repair, it had plenty of room for all kinds. Chivers, a skilled car restoration specialist, analyzed a walkaround video to determine if the car was worthwhile saving.
The exterior was in terrible condition so it was necessary to repaint the car. All of the body panels were straight and did not have any dents. The car was complete and there were no missing parts. This means that it can be taken apart if necessary. The interior did not age well. Most of the interior pieces were destroyed by heat and sunlight, so most of it would have to be replaced.
The most amazing discovery, however, was the fact that the engine had not seized in its dormant years. The car came with great bones and was sold at $30,000 (PS23.822). Chivers could make a good profit selling parts of the Testarossa because everything is so expensive.
Although shipping costs prevented Chivers from taking on this project, he offered his assistance to anyone who did. According to him, if the car was located in the U.K., it would be an entirely different story.
