Pure 5000 Zetros By Action Mobil Is A Bonkers Off-Road RV

It can climb mountains, ford rivers, or serve caviar in one bound.

Custom-built recreational vehicles are our favorite, especially those that can go almost anywhere. Over the past year, we’ve seen many cool RVs, some based on the Mercedes-Benz Unimog. Our 2019 RV adventure begins with another bizarre Benz, but this time it’s the Zetros off-roader. It was built by Action Mobil in Austria and is called the Pure 5000 Zetros. In this instance, Pure is pure awesome.

The Mercedes-Benz Zetros 1833 chassis is the foundation of it all. It’s imposing. Full-time four-wheel drive and cavernous ground clearance provide exceptional off-road capabilities. We don’t mean trails. The engine is a 326-horsepower (243 kilowatts) diesel engine that produces 959 pound-feet (1300 Newton-meters), of torque, which can be used to crawl over almost any surface.

Driving dynamics are well-understood. Action Mobil upgrades the Zetros with luxurious living quarters that can be passed through to the cab. The Zetros is fully equipped, with a small kitchen, including a stove, sink and dishwasher. The cabin has a toilet in the front. There are sitting, dining and sleeping areas at the rear. It can hold 121.5 gallons (460 Liters) of freshwater and 37 gallons (1140 Liters) wastewater. It has heat and air conditioning. The Pure 5000 Zetros can generate 1,110 watts solar power. This RV can travel a long distance without needing to refuel. It uses 158.6 gallons (660 liters) diesel fuel.

It’s worth asking if you want an RV that can move over rocks and serve wine in the middle o’ nowhere. Action Mobil builds custom RVs on a first-come basis. You should also know that Action Mobil makes all sorts of wild RVs, some even with eight-wheel wheels. Therefore, the simple answer to what it costs is very much. For the ultimate get-away-from-civilization vehicle, however, we suspect it could be worth every penny.
