The Kentucky Derby Edition starts at $53,190 plus $1,645 destination fee. This is a significant discount from the Limited’s base price of $53,890 before destination. Ram will only build 2,000 units of this horse-racing-inspired model.

These trucks can be identified by the horseshoe Kentucky Derby logo and the rose on the side of each bed, near the taillights. These trucks will also be the first Ram 1500s available in the Ivory White Tri Coat finish. Buyers can also order the edition in Delmonico Red or Granite Crystal, Max Steel, and Patriot Blue.

All exterior features of the Limited are still present, including chrome grilles and side hooks. The truck can be accessed via power running boards, which makes it easier to get in and out of. Standard pickups have 20-inch wheels. 22-inch options are available. The trailer hitch features blind spot monitoring, sway control and automatic trailer detection to make it easier to haul your horse.

All the normal mechanical features of the 1500 Limited are included on these trucks. The 5.7-liter V8 produces 395 horsepower (295 Kilowatts) as well as 410 pound-feet (556 Newton meters) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmits the power to either a front- or rear-wheel-drive system depending on the buyer’s choice. The handling is improved by an auto-leveling air suspension. The Kentucky Derby Edition is only available in Crew Cab body configuration and with a five-foot-seven-inch-long (170.2-centimeter-long) bed.
