In 2024, a production version will be available.
Ram announced in 2022 that it was developing an all-electric pickup truck. Although production was set to begin in 2024, no actual debut date was given. Although we don’t yet have a debut date for the version that can be purchased, we will soon see a concept unveiled before 2022.
Ram Mike Koval, CEO, stated that a concept would be ready in 2024. Automotive News. Motor.com A Ram spokesperson confirmed the information, but a date for 2022 is not yet known. It’s also unclear whether this will be a prototype or something more advanced. Ram continues to gain insight into customers’ needs through Ram Real Talk events. These are where representatives of the automaker have direct interaction and discuss the electric truck with the public. It is safe to say that the concept will not arrive before 2022.
Teaser photos from March give clues as to the design direction of the 1500 EV. While the Ford F-150 Lightning looks very much like a F-Series truck in many ways, Ram could be following a similar design path to the Chevrolet Silverado EV. Ram’s windshield appears to be forward mounted, which highlights the Ram’s shorter hood and large four-door cabin. A subtle angle in the pillar behind the cab suggests a modest fastback style. The tailgate is designed with a large red outline and bold RAM letters. A grille with even more bold branding at the front will be added.
These are only teaser sketches. Ram designers still have plenty of time to refine a concept that will debut this year and the production truck for 2024. Ram will then have seen the market reaction to the F-150 Lightning by that time. Deliveries begin at the end of April. Although the Chevrolet Silverado EV debuts at the beginning 2022, deliveries are not expected to start until 2024.
