According to reports, the new Banshee V8 7.0-liter produces 520 horsepower and 525 pound feet of torque.
Ram will give the Rebel an upgrade with the TR and TRX versions performance-oriented pickup. A new set of spy photos gives us a glimpse at the TR after we saw the TRX in development a while back.
According to FCA, the Rebel TR uses a new naturally-aspirated 7.0-liter V8. It is codenamed Banshee. According to reports, the engine produces 520 horsepower and 525 pounds-feet torque. This engine would be a significant upgrade to the 5.7-liter V8 that is currently in the Rebel, which produces 395 horsepower and 410 lb.ft.
The TR test mule appears to be a normal Ram 1500 Limited. Our eagle-eyed spies discovered that the rear doors had extra support from the frame rail supports. This provided greater support for the chassis to cope with the increased power. Photographers also noted a distinct engine note from the pickup. This suggests that the Banshee V8 may be under the hood.
The Rebel’s TRX, as seen in the spy shot gallery above, will have a Hellcat 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that makes 707 horsepower. FCA will make the pickups more distinct by prioritizing offroad capability on the TR and making it a street-focused vehicle. This will make it less likely that the sales of one model will be affected by the sale of the other.
Ram will likely be slow to unveil the new Rebel models. Although it’s unclear which vehicle will arrive first, automakers tend to release more powerful vehicles later. The TR would be the first to debut, followed by the TRX.
