Ram Rebel TRX Specifics Leaked: 700+ HP and 8-Speed Auto

Ford Raptor should be on your radar.

Ford revolutionized the pickup truck industry a decade ago with the F150 Raptor. The pickup was designed for off-road use straight out of the factory. It came with all the accessories needed to have some serious off-road fun. Six years later, Ram teased the Rebel TX Concept as a potential competitor. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles confirmed that the TRX would be entering production last year. As Ram waits to unveil the hopped up off-road truck, test vehicles have been seen since. However, there has been plenty of information that’s leaked over recent days that helps us understand what to expect.

The TRX concept was launched with a supercharged V8 of 6.2-liters producing 575 horsepower (428kilowatts), but the production TRX is said to produce more than 700 hp (521kW) according to Allpar.com, one the two publications that detail new rumors about this truck. Mopar Insiders reported that the TRX would produce 707 horsepower (527 kW), the same as Dodge’s Hellcat models or the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It will be paired with an eight-speed ZF-sourced automatic transmission.

Exterior design should be consistent with the concept. Allpar.com The production version includes flared fenders, hood vents, and the hood vents. The interior will feature a 12-inch Uconnect infotainment screen that sits in front of an old-and-true shift knob. There is no rotary gear selector. The Ram’s trick console in the center is also gone. Other upgrades include nicer materials and Rebel TRX branding.

The Rebel TRX will be revealed by Ram at a time that is not known. COVID-19 may cause delays at the New York and Detroit Auto Shows. This could force Ram and other automakers into secluded locations with an internet connection , much like what happened at the Geneva Motor Show. The Ram Rebel TRX should be able to compete with the Raptor, but with more horsepower. The Raptor produces 450 horsepower (336 kW).
