Sales of the Silverado fell nearly 11 percent.
It looked as though the Ford F-Series, the iconic car maker, was having trouble selling its products. Both Chevy and Ram trucks outsold those made by Ford in the second quarter, but Ford still maintained a slight advantage for the year. Trucks outsell Ford trucks, but the F-Series has nothing to be concerned about. It’s still the nation’s most-sold truck and vehicle for 2021.
Ford Last year, 726,004 F-Series pickups were sold. This blew away Ram, Chevy and Nissan. But, new car sales in 2021 weren’t so good. Sales of the F-Series fell 7.8 percent in comparison to 2020. Ram With 569,388 pickups sold in 2018, it was second in truck sales, an increase of one percent over 2020. The Silverado Third place was achieved with the sale of 529,765 pickups for light, medium, and heavy duty. Chevy Its truck sales dropped 10.8 percent.
Toyota holds four-place in truck sales thanks to the Tundra. Toyota’s truck sales also dropped by 25 percent, with 81,959 trucks sold. Rumours abound that Nissan will cease selling the Titan after the current generation. One only has to look at the numbers to understand why. Only 27,406 Titan pickups were sold by Nissan, which was a 3.7 percent increase over 2020.
Automakers had to deal with the lingering production stoppages caused by the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the chip shortage. This year was difficult. Ram, Chevy and Ford were among the automakers that had to stop production because of parts shortages. This likely led to some losses. The supply chain will be a risky one for automakers, possibly through 2022 and perhaps into 2023 .
