This is a mint condition item with six miles remaining. It will need to be washed.
Another Porsche 911 special is going up for auction. Similar to the Turbo earlier in the week, this one is also from the 964 generation but it’s even more rare. Porsche produced 51 Carrera RSR3.8 units, while the Lightweight was made in 86.
This 1993 example has been sitting in dust for nearly 25 years. According to RM Sotheby’s, this car is completely original and has never been used. We believe them, as the odometer reads only 10 km (6 miles).
The original buyer chose a very unusual configuration and chose a Polar Silver Metallic paint with purple wheels spokes and gold brake discs. The interior is far from stock. The owner applied a Can Can Red look to the roll cage and competition seats with body-colored rear panels.
Carrera RSR-3.8, a 964-based car, was a purpose-built track Porsche. This is why many of them had a stripped-out interior. According to the auction house, this unit is actually the only one to have a fully-trimmed cabin.
Although it may have the Turbo’s body and engine, its heartbeat is a naturally-aspirated 3.8-liter flat-6 engine that officially has a rating of 350 horsepower. Many argue that the engine produces somewhere around 375 horsepower.
Because it hasn’t been driven in over a quarter century, it will need more than a simple wash. The new owner may actually take it out for a drive.
This rare 911 will be up for grabs at RM Sotheby’s auction in Villa Erba, Italy on May 27 .
