Rare Vixen RV Gets BMW Grille And Badge It Makes Sense

These RVs, which were wedge-shaped, were only 500 in number. None of them ever became a Bimmer.

BMW offers a wide range of models, ranging from 1 to 8 and X through Z. However, there are two types that the Bavarian marque has never produced: vans and trucks. The 2Series Gran Tourer is the closest to this model, and is classified as a compact minivan. The round emblem and kidneys are reserved only for sedans, hatchbacks and coupes as well as convertibles and SUVs. What if we told you that there is an RV in the US with both BMW branding and a V8 engine? This Vixen 21TD was spotted by Shritch Automobile Spotting, and uploaded to Instagram.

Before you get out your pitchforks to lash at me, I’m sure that this wedge-shaped motorhome just received the grille, and the badge that it never was a BMW. There’s no need to shame the RV for that.

A BMW-badged Vixen makes sense, however. The Vixen 21 TD’s 300+ models are powered by a 2.4-liter turbodiesel-inline-six engine from BMW. It produces 115 horsepower (85 kilowatts), and 162 pound feet (220 Newton-meters). Although this RV may not be as clean-looking as it was in the 1980s, BMW has made it look like a Bimmer.

The Vixen website states that only 587 Vixen 21 units were manufactured by the Vixen Motor Company of Michigan from 1986 to 1989. Only 376 of those units are TD models, which came with the BMW turbodiesel motor. The grille on the spotted Vixen looks like an E32 7 Series. It’s the same narrow grille as the 7er with inline-six power from the ’90s. Even the rear received a BMW badge. Although we don’t know where the Vixen was found or if it is for sale, considering its rarity, might you be interested in purchasing one? We know that we do.
