Red Bull F1 Drivers Race in a Crazy Race With Towing Campers

Aston Martins aren’t known for hauling trailers and these drivers prove it.

Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo have spent some time at Red Bull Ring in preparation for the Austrian Grand Prix in July. But the drivers aren’t just focusing on cutting down lap times. Racers got some air by jumping into their camper-towing Aston Martins and racing around the circuit.
Ricciardo climbs in an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante rated at 568 horsepower (424kilowatts) and Verstappen a more powerful Vanquish S Volante rated at 595hp (444kW). You don’t have to worry about the race being uneven. These laps are more about having fun and not finding the fastest driver. Towing campers can help even the playing field.

The liveries of each driver are featured on these custom-painted trailers. Red Bull estimates that they weigh in at around 882 pounds (400 kg). They wear Pirelli slick tires for better performance on the track. The sticky rubber is not helpful because the campers are able to keep one wheel in the air at almost every corner while the racers spin the Aston Martins around.

Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin are working together on the Valkyrie hypercar. The machine will arrive in 2019 with , a Cosworth-built V12 of 6.5-liters with hybrid assistance. It produces a total output 820 horsepower (611 kW). They will only build 175 of them, 150 for the road, and 25 hardcore track-only models.
