This adds an extra layer of protection between you, the wildlife.

Redtail Overland, located in Longmont, Colorado, has created the first ever hard-sided roof camper, or RTC Hardshell roof Campers Soft-sided walls have been a feature of tents for years. Even the top-ranked hardshell roof campers don’t have hard-sided walls. This is a sign of the absence of technology for pop-up motorhomes. Redtail is not satisfied with its rooftop camper made of carbon fiber.

Redtail’s RTC is designed to provide an extra layer of protection against wildlife while you’re offroading, or on your camping trips. It also offers stability, noise reduction and weatherproofing, which are all things that are missing in soft-walled roof campers. Redtail claims that the RTC is strong and light because it’s made of insulated carbon fibre. This is something to think about when you add something to your vehicle.

The hard-sided wall has clear dual pane windows that allow natural light to enter.

Redtail RTC also includes a floor hatch that allows direct vehicle access for sunroof-equipped vehicles.

Redtail allows you to pre-order hard-sided roof campers. They are available at $25,000 for RT 110 or $20,000 for RT 90. Redtail RTCs can be handcrafted in Colorado, and made-to-order. Construction orders will be available in August 2020.
