Big updates have been made to the grille and headlights.
Both the Ford Kuga European counterpart and its North American counterpart, the Escape, are due for styling updates. This gallery of spy photos shows two of the new crossovers in action on the roads of Europe.
The most notable change to the crossover’s headlights is the addition of new, thinner and sharper ones. The grille is almost completely covered on these cars. However, the camouflage makes it appear wider. The hood must also be modified due to the altered styling of the lights.
Revisions to the rear are not as significant. The taillights have the same shape, but have a new interior design. Also, the bumper seems to have an updated design.
A pair of renderings (above), that attempted to remove the camouflage. These include changes to the grille design and headlights.
We have not yet seen spy shots of interior of the new model. Some tech changes and modifications to the cabin materials are possible, but we cannot rule them out.
It is also unknown if powertrain upgrades will be made. There are no signs of engine options being changed.
For the 2020 model year, the Escape’s current generation debuted in 2019. Although this update is only a few years in the life of the crossover, it is very competitive. To keep up with the new entries on the market, vehicles must be able to adapt quickly.
The refreshed Escape will make its debut in the United States this year. It will be available for the 2023 model-year. It is likely that the Kuga’s European debut would be in the same time frame.
The US Escape sales dropped to 145 415 units in 2021, which was 18.5 percent less than the 2020 178 496 deliveries. The model had 24,826 deliveries in 2018 – 7.7 percent more than the 2021 period. It is second among Ford’s crossovers in terms of volume, with the Explorer surpassing the Escape.
