Dodge confirmed that the 2011 Challenger will be powered by the Pentastar V6 engine, which produces 305 horsepower (227 kW/ 309 PS) as well as 268 lb-ft (363Nm) of torque.
This is good news but it leaves the Challenger at the bottom of the V6 pony car competition. The Chevrolet Camaro V6 produces 312 horsepower (233 kW/ 316 PS), and 278 lbft (377Nm), while the Ford Mustang V6 generates 305 horsepower (227 kW/ 309 PS) as well as 280 lbft (379Nm) of torque. The Challenger is likely to be heavier and more costly.
The 2011 Challenger will get a minor facelift and revised suspension. It will also receive gripper Firestone tires.Read the press release for more information about the Pentastar V6.
