It will be on sale before the end of the year.

Ora Black Cat is a name you’ve likely heard. It is a all-electric, retro looking car that was made in China earlier this year. It was followed in April by the Ora Punk Cat ( ) and the data-params=”%7B%22section_route%22%3A%22news%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22green%22%7D” data-type-id=”8″ href=”https://www.motor1.com/news/category/classics/”>retro-looking EV at the 2021 IAA, Munich. The Good Cat, still in production form, is renamed to Cat. It is Ora’s first model to be sold on this Old Continent.

It is a little strange that the Great Wall-owned brand focuses on the vehicle’s design through its official press release. This is a refreshing take on the compact car segment, where every automaker tries to make a big deal of small cars. We can’t help but notice similarities to the original Volkswagen Beetle. Ora describes the exterior as vintage-style with a strong and aerodynamic appearance.

The Chinese manufacturer has not provided any information regarding the Cat’s electric powertrain. The domestic version of this car shows that the electric motor is a single one with 143 horsepower (107kilowatts) 155 pound-feet (220 Newton-meters), and it’s delivered to the front wheels by an electric motor. Ora also explains the EV’s range for Europe at 248 miles (400 km) per charge, but it is not clear if that’s measured using the WLTP cycle or the NEDC cycle.

According to Ora, the company developed the vehicle with the people who will be driving it. Ora believes that these people will be young at heart and care about their community while still having their own view of the world. Ora will deliver the Cat equipped with a standard 360-degree camera, as well as other tech goodies. Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the standard equipment.

We are certain that Ora will begin delivery of the Cat in Europe by the end of the year. We hope to learn more about the specifications closer to the date.
