When it was first released, this clip caused quite a stir in Japan.

Motor1.com does not endorse violating the law on the roads, but some videos are just too amazing to not be shared. This oldie, but still a great clip shows a Ferrari F40 driving at an estimated speed of 320 km/h (199 miles per an hour) along a Japanese highway.

The driver does more than just accelerate to almost 200 mph. He cruises at speeds of over 124 mph (200 km/h) for several minutes before increasing the speed. Other vehicles tend to be polite and move out of the way of the speeding driver.

There have been many vehicles that reach triple-digit speeds along Germany’s Autobahn. But, doing it in Japan is a little more unique because there is a very low speed limit. Japan’s highways were largely unrestricted until 2016.

Maximum speed limit: 62 miles per an hour (100 km per hour).

This means that the driver exceeded three times the legal limit.

This clip was created by the owner in 1990. It became a pre-Internet video viral hit in Japan because the man sold copies of the tape via VHS. The police discovered this and arrested him. This copy is available on Yahoo Auctions Japan for just 30,000 yen ($265 current exchange rate).

From 1987 to 1992, Ferrari only produced over 1,300 F40s. This was a new entry in the supercar scene at the time of filming. These Ferraris are now very valuable and can be bought second-hand for upwards of $1 million.
