From luxury brands to mainstream, the coupe-SUV madness has trickled down from high-end marques to mainstream
Renault presented the Arkana showcar in August 2013 at the Moscow International Auto Salon. Although technically it was still a concept car, it was close to being a production model. The vehicle is currently being shown in production clothes. It is also available for order in Russia. The vehicle could soon be available in other markets.
It’s a cheaper alternative to the posh compact coupe.SUVIt’s just like theBMW X4AndMercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. It is almost identical to the last year’s showcar. The only differences are the smaller grilles at front and absence of twin exhausts at back.
You can take a virtual tour of the cabin to see components from other Renault or Dacia models. The standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen display at the center console, single zone automatic climate control, heated seats and parking sensors depending on the trim level. The cabin can accommodate five people, and the boot holds 17.93 cubes (508 liters), 47.07 cuft (1,333 Liters) when the rear seats are folded.
Renault claims the Arkana will offer a unique combination of the dynamic of a sedan with the bold character and high-riding vehicle. This model features 55 percent more new chassis components than the rest of Renault’s SUVs. It is also the first Renault model to receive the new turbocharged 1.3-liter engine.
It produces 150 horsepower (112 kilowatts) in this application. The CVT XTronic automatic transmission is paired with an optional intelligent all-wheel-drive and an optional intelligent all wheel drive. The crossover can be equipped with AWD and offers three driving modes: 2WD, Auto, or Lock. Renault will offer an 85 kW (115 horsepower) naturally aspirated 1.6-liter gasoline engine, which is especially targeted at the Russian market.
The new Arkana is being launched by the French manufacturer. This Edition One model features LED headlights and taillights as well as additional chrome trim and 17-inch wheels in two different colors. The Arkana Edition One starts at 1,419990 Russian rubles (about $22,002) at current rates.
