Renault designed the EZ-Pro so it would blend in with the urban landscape, rather than stand out.
Renault’s new EZ Pro concept, an electric autonomous pod, is a way to think about the future of parcel delivery. Renault envisions convoys of these vehicles traveling together autonomously to transport parcels throughout a city.
The EZ-Pro is designed by a French brand to blend in with a city and look anonymous. These are rectangular, simple pods with curved edges. Renault envisions two types. One would be the driver, and the other person would take care of delivering fragile or valuable items. If necessary, the occupant could also control the joystick. Other EZ-Pros could be filled with lockers to store parcels and the recipients could unlock them using a smartphone.
Renault believes that an autonomous pod is a better option for parcel delivery because the recipient can choose when and where it arrives. A person can request that the parcel be delivered to their workplace or home if they have an urgent package. You can track the exact location of your goods online.
According to the French brand, a fleet of EZ-Pros would reduce congestion and put fewer vehicles on the roads. Their autonomous tech could connect to the city’s infrastructure and know the status of traffic lights to allow them to adjust their driving to improve traffic flow.
Renault is not planning to produce the EZ-Pro, so it’s only a concept. This vehicle is a natural sequel to the earlier EZ Go concept which is an autonomous electric car that will be used for ride-sharing programs in the future.
