Renault has revealed new details about the upcoming lineup changes.
After the Initiale Paris preview, the next all-new model will ride on the CMF2 platform developed with Nissan. It is expected to be released towards the end 2014 and follow the Espace. Renault will introduce a new Megane generation in 2015 that will include more models than the existing family. 2015 will be the year we see the new Twingo, whose styling was shown off in the Twin’Run concept.
The French automaker will soon introduce a Megane-based crossover on the same CMF2 platform. This will be Renault’s second-gen Nissan Qashqai. Laurens van den Den Acker, the firm’s design chief, said that the next-gen Scenic would be a more flexible SUV while still keeping its MPV roots.
The new Laguna will also be a significant change, as it is completely different from the current generation. It hasn’t had a lot of success in terms sales. Because of its poor sales record, the Laguna will not be sold in the UK. The Escape will suffer the same fate as the Escape because Renault claims that the car was not designed for right-hand driving.
