100 percent new, 100 percent electric.
The Renault Megane eVision Concept will become a production car less than a year after it was first introduced as a show vehicle. This will take place at the 2021 IAA Munich Motor Show, which will replace IAA Frankfurt as Germany’s biannual international automotive event. Renault’s stand will feature the all-electric hybrid hatchback/ crossover .
The French automaker is reluctant to give too much information about the Megane E-Tech Electric. It will likely be sold alongside the existing Megane, which is available with hybrid, conventional gasoline and diesel engines. They should be able to co-exist for at most a few more years before Renault switches completely to battery-powered cars.
This high-riding hatch will be Renault’s first 100-percent-electric model for Europe. It will join the A-segment Twingo E-Tech Electric, and the B-segment Zoe. Megane E-Tech Electric, which will be built on the CMF-EV platform, will feature a 217-horsepower (160-kilowatt) motor that will most likely send power to the front wheels. The 60-kWh lithium-ion battery will provide the electric power, according to preliminary information.
Renault teased its electric hatch for the first time. It promised that it would be able to run for approximately 280 miles (450 km) using the WLTP cycle, before it needs to recharge the batteries. Renault has already manufactured 30 prototypes of the Megane, and will continue to use them for testing purposes over the next few months. The first units will be delivered to customers in the first half 2022.
Renault will display its Renault5 concept as well as other E-Tech production models at the IAA Munich.
