Renault Megane RS Trophy R Facelift Spied – Small Design Tweaks

What is blue tape?

This spy shot is our first glimpse at the RS TrophyR version. This development vehicle shares many design similarities with the RS Trophy.

The hatchback appears to not have any camouflage and concealment is provided by the blue tape around the grille. It’s possible that this hatchback is the Trophy R. If so, it’s not hard to see the Trophy R’s prominent hood scoop. Renault may want to keep some secrets from the curious public, so these spy photos could just be a pre-production vehicle.

This car has the Megane’s slightly modified taillights at the rear. They have the clear part of the lamp at its bottom. It retains the Trophy R’s pair octagonal exhausts that exit the diffuser.

The Megane RS Trophy R has a turbocharged 1.8 liter engine that produces 296 horsepower (221 kilowatts), and 295 poundfeet (405 Newton-meters). Through measures like removing rear seats, Renault Sport also shaved 287 pounds (130 kg) off the hotter model.

At this time, major powertrain changes are unknown for the Trophy R. The model’s May debut was a relatively recent addition to the Renault lineup. Engineers have limited time to develop higher-performance parts for the Megane.

The new Megane range may also be unveiled at a later date. According to current speculation, could be the venue for the unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2020. Renault may only display a few new variants at the Geneva Motor Show, and the world will have to wait for the unveiling of hotter models such as the Trophy R.
