Is there a new Lord of The FWD Ring in the works?
It appears Renault may be on the verge to introduce the hottest Megane as the RS Trophy R range topper was seen at the Nurburgring this week without any camouflage whatsoever. Because the car was being used for promotional purposes, the reason the company with the diamond logo did not apply any disguise to its performance hatchback was that it was filming a promotional film. This suggests that an official debut is imminent.
The Megane RS Trophy R is followed by a BMW 1 Series car. It features a hood scoop that supplies more air to the turbocharged 1.8 liter gasoline engine. It is not yet clear if the four-cylinder will be mated to produce more power and torque than the Trophy version’s 296 horsepower and 295 lb.ft (400 Nm). Side note: The standard Megane RS can only manage 276 hp (390 Nm) and 288 lbft (390Nm).
It will pack less punch than the Trophy model, but it will be faster than the Trophy one. The new R will also shed weight. Renault Sport will probably get rid of its rear seats and replace them with plexiglass windows. A roll cage will also likely be installed to increase chassis stiffness. Some of the upgrades are already visible, including the larger brakes and the low-profile tires that wrap the black alloy wheels. As part of a generous upgrade package, a stiffer suspension system is likely to be on the horizon. This will allow you to reduce your time on a racetrack by tenths.
The Renault Megane RS Trophy R might be able to regain the title of having the fastest front-wheel drive production car at Nurburgring. It must complete the lap of Green Hell in 7 minutes and 43.8 seconds, as opposed to the current record holder (the Honda Civic Type R).
We will likely hear about a record Renault holds with the Megane RS Trophy R.
