This is what it means.
Tesla beats the Porsche Taycan’s 7 minutes 42 seconds around Germany’s famous Nurburgring. This is unofficially true. The news comes courtesy of Auto Motor Und Sport. According to German automotive magazine, the American electric sedan beat its Porsche-badged competitor by 20 seconds around the track. This is in line with the information we received from the Ring’s spy photographer, who reported a time of 7 minutes 23 around the Tesla sedan’s dynamic track.
However, Tesla’s times are not achievable from any Model. The Model S sedans, which are wide and muscular in body, were dubbed “Plaid” after the 1987 movie Spaceballs. They are said to have three electric motors and ride on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup R rubber.
They used to. Our spy photographer claims that this prototype Model S Plaid blue prototype (the first we have seen that isn’t red) has a set prototype Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport RS tires.
These drivers are not your average Joes. According to our spy photographer, three experts are currently driving the Model S prototypes, which are extremely powerful and grippy: racers Thomas Mutsch and Andreas Simonsen and Carl Rydquist.
According to rumors, Tesla will attempt a record-breaking run around the Ring tomorrow night. A second attempt could be made on Saturday. It is likely that the Model S will beat the Taycan’s Nurburgring lap times when the run is over. However, Tesla appears to be able to do this with a car unlike any other sold today.
Tesla deserves credit for making a record-breaking Model S. But, until they sell a Model S with the Plaid prototype’s powertrain, ultrasticky rubber and engine, it will appear that Elon Musk, Tesla, and Porsche are playing checkers, while Oliver Blume, Porsche, and Porsche are playing chess. The Nurburgring laps are a good example of this.
