Richard Hammond comments on his car videos before Top Gear

Richard was a car video producer for seven years before he got his job at Top Gear.

Richard Hammond, an automotive presenter legend, has worked hard to perfect his car reviews skills for over a decade. It took Richard Hammond years to perfect his car review skills for Granada Men & Motors, a show that isn’t as well-known as Top Gear or the Grand Tour. Richard watched clips from his first car review gig on the Drivetribe YouTube channel to see how far he has come in automotive television.

Richard Hammond is the original host of Jeremy Clarkson’s BBC Top Gear. Richard was also the first presenter on Men & Motors on the Granada channel. Richard continues to work with James May and Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear’s Amazon Prime show, The Grand Tour.

Richard Hammond comments on his car videos before Top Gear

Richard was a Top Gear producer from 2002 to 2015. Top Gear took a short hiatus in 2015 after the departures of James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson.

Richard is shown at a Car Show giving an overview about the new Morgan V8. This is Richard’s first car review clip. Richard is critical of his young reviewer personality but is shocked to discover that Morgan’s use wood in the chassis.

Next is Richard’s review of the R53 Mini Cooper S. Richard discusses how low-budget the reviews were and how much time he spent with the car. Funny thing is, Richard didn’t have a car back then so a press car for one week would have been huge for him.

It’s amazing to see how much Richard’s on-air work has changed over the years. Although his hairstyle has changed, Richard Hammond still shares his passion for cars with his fans.
