This is a lot of horsepower at the drag strip.
The Rimac Nevera is helping to lay the foundation for future high performance electric vehicles. It set a new record last week for fastest production car , clocking in at 8.58 seconds quarter-mile. The Nevera has few competitors right now. However, one close contender is the Tesla Model S plaid. DragTimes released a video that pits them in a trio a blisteringly fast drag races.
The Nevera packs four electric motors These send 1,914 horsepower (1.408 kilowatts), to all four wheels. It also has Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The car weighs in at 4,733 pounds (2.146 kilograms). The MSRP is $2.4 million. Although the Tesla Model S is less powerful and more affordable, it still impresses thanks to its 1,020 horsepower (760 kW) motor setup. It is heavier than the Tesla Model S.
Rimac It weighs in at 4,833 lbs (2.192 kg), but it is much more affordable at $124,000. All four Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are powered by power routes.
Although the Rimac did not beat the Tesla in all three races it was able to set a new drag race record, it did beat the Tesla . However, that doesn’t mean the Tesla is slow. The average time for both EVs was 8.6 seconds at 166 mph (267 km/h). At 152 mph (244 kph), the Tesla averaged 9.3 seconds. Both cars achieved impressive speeds beyond their quarter-mile times. The Rimac reached 60 mph (96 km/h) in 1.9 seconds with a one-foot rollout. The Tesla took 2.08 seconds.
The performance differences between Tesla Model S Plaid & Rimac Nevera won’t be in play on the streets, even though both vehicles are incredibly fast with huge amounts of horsepower and torque. High-performance EVs are on the rise and there will be plenty of power to go around.
