Riot Tractor’s Mobile Expanding Wall is Despot’s Best Friend

Riot Tractor's Mobile Expanding Wall is Despot's Best FriendThis riot control vehicle’s wall is expanding and you don’t want your side.

Bozena, a Slovakian company, offers heavy artillery when it comes to dealing avec rioters. This is not a wall of rioters wearing protective gear. Instead, the Riot, which the company calls the Riot, mounts an articulating shield onto an armored tractor. Four tear gas sprayers and a front-mounted water cannon keep everyone away.

The Riot will provide law enforcement with plenty of security. The huge shield at the front is 6,614 pounds (3,000 kgs). It has three sections that can be deployed and allow the obstacle to reach a length of 14.8 feet (4.5m) or 24.6 feet (7m). Protective shields made of bullet-resistant glass or armored steel plates are available for protection against a NATO ball round measuring 7.62x51mm. The panels open to allow the police to shoot outward. For the police to pass through, the whole thing can be articulated upward.

The tractor that drives the shield has bullet-resistant panels as well as a fire suppression system. Remote operation of a water cannon is possible for the driver. The vehicle’s rear and front are viewed from a network of cameras. This beast can accelerate or reach speeds of up to 25 miles an hour (40 km per hour) thanks to its 140-horsepower diesel motor.

Law enforcement can attach a water trailer to the tractor’s back as an additional piece of equipment. It can hold 792.5 gallons (3,000 liters), of water. The rig can also take water from a nearby water source, such as a hydrant or river. A separate tank can carry 26 gallons (100 L) of foam and other additives that could be mixed into the water.

The video below shows the capabilities of an older Riot. This version used a remote-controlled skidsteer loading machine with the shield at its front, rather than a tractor to propel it. Although it offered the same protection, it was only capable of reaching a maximum speed of 6 mph (9 km/h).
