Rolls-Royce Cullinan Edition: Fake it ‘Till you Make It

Before it rose to fame and fortune, this crossover was a Chevy Captiva.

A YouTube user in Hyderabad, India uploaded a 41 second video of a Chevrolet Captiva that was modified to look like a Rolls-Royce. Motor1 jokes that it’s a long-lost Cullinan test mule, but it is clear that this was someone’s personal project.

In the United States we actually have a small Captiva crossover, at least in part. It’s not available for purchase off the lot. The vehicle is only intended for fleet sales. It’s possible you have rented one in the past and not known it. It is a simple car that blends in with the background. Except for this one.

The Captiva is a nice car, whether it’s a vehicle for fleet use or a car designed for developing markets. Although the video was taken from across the street it seems like the person who attempted the Rolls-Royce conversion fully committed to the project and persevered to the end.

It’s likely that it’s filled with enough fiberglass filler to make a magnet stick to the body. It’s impossible to see the inside of it without seeing it up close.

It’s horrible and disgusting, but not as terrible as we would like. It’s at least all the same color and the grille and front fascia were somewhat integrated into overall styling of the base car.

Although the bright, marmalade-gold color of the Captivacum-Rolls Royce suits it well, something more subtle would have blended in much better. We doubt the creator of this creation would want to blend in.

This Captiva attracted enough attention that someone was willing to film it and upload it to YouTube. Attention is what the owner wants.
