Rolls-Royce Cullinan will make a private debut for some buyers

Although the SUV will be able to share many similarities with the Phantom, it will also look ruggeder.

Rolls-Royce’s most prestigious customers will be able to see the new Cullinan SUV behind closed-doors this year. According to Automotive News, the model will not be available to the general public or the press until later in the summer. Cullinan is simply Rolls-Royce’s codename for the SUV project. Rolls-Royce won’t yet reveal the name of the production version, but it will use a different moniker. Rolls also sounded down the “SUV” designation for the new model. Rolls has instead come up with a bizarre title for the model, “High-Sided Vehicle”.

Spy shots reveal the Cullinan’s boxy and chiseled style. The Phantom’s front looks very similar, with rectangular LED taillights and thin intakes beneath them. Because the SUV (or HSV), has a higher ride height that a standard Rolls-Royce, it is easier to see. The Cullinan’s large, flat roof gives it a bulky look and should provide plenty of headroom for passengers in the front or rear. There’s plenty of space for all your Louis Vuitton luggage, thanks to the large cargo area. Inside, Cullinan will use cues Phantom. Spy shots show that the interior has a mix of traditional instrument displays and large infotainment screens. Customers will have the option to choose from a wide range of exotic woods and upholsteries as well as a vast array of other finishes, just like the big sedan. The Cullinan’s production version will share a platform with the Rolls Phantom . They will likely share the same 6.75-liter biturbo V12 with 563 horsepower (420kilowatts) & 664 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters).
