This is the second design made especially for the Lion City.
Rolls-Royce is known for its bespoke creations. The latest Rolls-Royce creation to emerge from Goodwood this year is the Phantom Orchid, a unique masterpiece created especially for Singapore. This vehicle is the second to be commissioned by the country.
The Vanda ‘Miss Joaquim’ hybrid orchid is Singapore’s national flower. It’s also known as the Lion City. Rolls-Royce chose the orchid as an inspiration theme for strength, beauty, resilience and strength.
Rolls-Royce selected the long-wheelbase Phantom to be the blank canvas for its unique creation. According to the company, it took Bespoke Collective 2 years to create the Phantom Orchid. This was a collaboration of craftspeople, designers, and artisans.
“Our design concept reflected the values of Singapore and envisioned a balanced, yet progressive design. Michael Bryden Lead Designer, Rolls-Royce Bespoke, said that the orchid can be seen in many aspects of Asian life. It is a reminder of how resilient people adapt to changing environments. Bryden was also lead designer for the SG50 Bespoke ghost.
The Phantom Orchid’s unique design is what makes it stand out. It was created by Helen Amy Murray, a UK-based artist. A Gallery is featured in the Phantom that displays artworks and other objects for self-expression.
Murray created the Phantom Orchid’s silk artwork by hand behind a transparent glass that runs unabated across the car’s fascia. The interior combines Grace White, Havana and Smoke Grey with Dark Olive staining to create a feeling of elegance and serenity.
Yohan Benchetrit, Rolls-Royce Bespoke designer, created an orchid-inspired picnic table insert for the rear cabin. This adds to the overall theme.
The Rolls-Royce Phantom Orchid has an exclusive exterior paint, which is Arctic White with violet tint. For a pearlescent look, it’s mixed with fine glass particles.
Rolls-Royce is not revealing the price of its latest creation.
