Rolls’ CEO confirmed that the brand would not go through hybridization.

Downsizing. This is the single word that most terrifies all gearheads around the globe. This is the process of decreasing the displacement of the internal combustion engine and adding technologies to improve power and efficiency. This is just the theory, and things may be a little different in real life. However, even massive machines like the BMW 7 Series don’t have it all.

According to rumors, the flagship Bavarian sedan will be moving away from the V8 or V12 engines in favor of six-cylinder electrified units. Rolls-Royce is not following the same route, but it’s a brand that falls under the umbrella of BMW Group. At least not for now.

Rolls-Royce currently works on these cars.

Torsten Müller-Otvos, the marque’s CEO, stated that Rolls’ V12 would be around for as long as possible. He also said the company plans to jump straight into pure electric powertrains while keeping the 12-cylinder engine in stock. This process will take time.

“We won’t go into hybrid, but we will go straight into electric. It’s not as if we shut down the 12-cylinder overnight, and then the next day, everything goes electric. Then we take it one step at a time.

Living the RR lifestyle:

We can’t agree with you more. Rolls’ boss was directly asked by our colleagues how long the transition would take and when the iconic 6.75-liter V12 could be retired. The answer was straightforward. The answer was simple. It’s like a complicated watch.

Rolls-Royce should be able to fully embrace electrification once it is in its lineup. This process is currently slowed not by the power of modern electric powertrains but by their charging abilities. Electric cars are powered by enough power. It’s not an issue. Because of the large torque, it’s easier than any other combustion engine. Rolls Royce is all in torque.
