Direct replacements are not planned.

It was only a matter time that Rolls-Royce announced it would end Wraith, and Dawn production. This is not surprising. Rolls removed the Dawn and Wraith models from its US lineup on April 2021. The company confirmed with Autocar, that both models will be discontinued in 2023. There are no plans for direct replacements.

Torsten Muller Otvos, the company’s CEO, confirmed the news. He also stated that Rolls had already closed its order books for both models. The last Wraith/Dawn will likely be rolled off the Rolls assembly lines in the early 2023. This is well before the all electric Spectre arrives later in the year. Muller-Otvos stated that the Spectre would take over the Wraith’s place in the Rolls’ lineup.

This is the first step in the brand’s quest to become an all-electric brand, which it hopes to achieve before the end the decade. The company is keeping details about the model secret, though rumors suggest that it will share parts with the BMW iX M60. The all-electric crossover has 610 horsepower (449 Kilowatts) as well as 811 pound-feet (1.100 Newton-meters), of torque in Sport mode. This would be nice to see in the Rolls.

Due to the increasing stringent regulations and the aging platform, the Rolls and Wraith fled the USA at the end 2021 model year. They share their DNA with the BMW 7 Series, which debuted in 2008. Rolls decided it was time to retire. However, the new Spectre, which is a hybrid of the BMW 7 Series and Rolls, has been added to its lineup. There are no direct replacements.

Rolls’ future is uncertain, other than the plan to become all-electric by 2030. Architecture of Luxury is a brand new platform that Rolls has used to build its new models, including the all-electric Spectre. Rolls will be able to concentrate on electrifying its remaining lineup with the end of Dawn and Wraith . This should be easier given the shared architecture that underpins its entire lineup.
