Ronn Motor Company's Scorpion, A 450 HP Sports Car

The V6 Acura twin turbo engine is capable of pushing the 2-ton car to 200+ mph.

The only way to make hydrogen for cars is with fuel cells, or regular combustion engines. BMW is working to prove this possible with its vehicles. Ronn Motor Company from Texas, USA has suggested a new way to use this gas: to mix it with gasoline. The company claims that this can increase highway fuel economy by up to 17 km/l or 40 mpg. It can even do this for a 450 horsepower sports car, which can sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Top speeds are up to 320 km/h (200 miles). The Ronn Scorpion is here for you, ladies and gentlemen.

Ronn Motor Company’s website has very limited information about the car. However, they have sent us a press release which clarifies most of our doubts. All the rest had to be sold individually. Acura’s 3.5-litre V6 engine, which produces 289 horsepower in the stock form and 450 horsepower in twin turbo configuration, is what the car uses. VCM (Variable Cylinder management) is absent. All six cylinders are functional, however, the car still achieves a remarkable 17 km/l highway fuel efficiency.

This is because the mixture of hydrogen and gasoline is 40%/60%, respectively. Hydrogen is generated by Hydrorunner’s hydrogen delivery system. It uses 11.3 litres (3.75 gallons) of on-board water to generate hydrogen. This tank needs to be refilled only once every 1,600 km (1,600 miles). This clever solution eliminates the need for expensive and heavy hydrogen tanks. Accelerator demands affect the amount of hydrogen generated. Adrian Pylypec (VP Sales and Marketing, Ronn Motor Company), stated that hydrogen is generated at higher rpms and lower rpms to World Car Fans.

The prices are not listed in the press release. However, we have confirmed them. They are US$ 150,000 and Ronn Motor Company will accept pre-orders. Although it may seem expensive, there will be only 200 Scorpions available. This exclusivity is an explanation for the high price. Other features include carbon fiber body, chrome molly chassis and Recaro seats. Indy car independent suspension on all four wheels. Bose 8 speaker system, Bose8 speaker sound system, Bose 8 audio system, Bose 8 speakers sound system, Bose-8 speaker soundsystem, Bose 8 Speaker Sound System, Bose 8 speaker music, Bose 8 custom LED gauges, HID Xenon headerlights, custom LED sidemarkers, and LED headlights. Scorpion is able to maintain a weight of 950 kg even when loaded with comfort equipments. This is a large vehicle considering its 2.67 m wheelbase. The total width of the vehicle is still to be determined. Production will begin in the fourth quarter 2008, with deliveries occurring around the same time.
