This one-off will likely be based on either the F12 Berlinetta 812 Superfast or the F12 Berlinetta 8.
Ferrari has a history of creating unique, coachbuilt designs for the most discerning clients. It looks like another cavallino ramante is in the pipeline. We believe we are looking at the Ferrari F125 TDE supercar with futuristic styling and heritage-inspired names.
According to The Supercar Blog, the name of the machine is taken from the Tour de Espana. However, that could change. The possibility exists that the F125 TDE was created by the Carrozzeria Superleggera coachbuilders. If this is true, the Ferrari will join the portfolio that also includes the magnificent Alfa Romeo Disco Volante supercar and the Bentley Flying Star driving brakes. The coachbuilder wouldn’t be the only one to look at the Prancing Horse.
The history of Touring Superleggera is long. Two of their most recent projects were built on an F12 Berlinetta chassis. Production ended after 2017. The Aero 3 project, which was designed to recall the endurance racers from the 1930s, and the beautiful Berlinetta Lusso used an older Ferrari’s V12 engine (6.3-liter) instead of the 6.5 liter unit in the current 812 Superfast. According to The Supercar Blog, the F125 TDE may do the same. In the meantime, Ferrari is upgrading the 812 with a more powerful Competizione model.
The F125 TDE is a truly wild design that looks street-legal and will make it stand out from the Competizione. The F125 TDE features a massive rear wing that rises above an aggressive diffuser. It also has a helmet-visor greenhouse, and glass roof elements that recall Ferrari’s first open-roof Grand Prix racers. Complex curves and a large front fender vent will likely exert more downforce than the spoiler. The TDE should therefore be able to handle a lot of pavement. Although power is still a mystery, don’t be surprised if it exceeds 800 horsepower (597 kilowatts).
